Sand Dunes

Over the past few weeks with little or no nice light and general boredom with the usual over photographed spots round Perth Jamie Kirk and myself ventured up to Lancelin north of Perth for the afternoon and well into the night. We arrive and it was windy. The fremantle doctor was in and in a big way. On a positive note the wind did manage to do a nice job sand blasting my skin and fresh from a skin exfoliation I now look 25 years old again (PARTY)

Heres a shot of 4 images stitched I have many more as we shot from around 6pm till 10.30pm with the moon almost full and no clouds in the sky I came away with some interesting exposures.

Cheers Jamie and Kirk for a very cool evening, We’ll have to do it again very soon.

Great mate, looks 3D on my screen. Great work.

  11. Christian says:

was this just lit by the moon Neal, looks bloody good.

  12. Thanks Thomas – With the texture of the sand and shadows it does tend to look a little 3d

    Thanks Merv

Thanks Christian – No moon light in this shot, taken while just before the sun gets to that point in the sky when the light softens. A little curves / desat etc to highlight textures. A little while later the light went very golden and then the pinks after sunset.

loving these sand dune shots by you & kirk! A massive print would be wicked!

  14. This is a great shot Neal and the better of the two i think although the other does remind me of the one in CF’s gallery which looked backlit (if you know the one im talking about from the first course). You have to let on how you get these blues in the sky as well! you do this very well! … your cott buoy one and the one of the perth skyline spring to mind!
