Looks great converted to B&W mate. The shot I have is very similar, although in landscape format. Lovin all the images

  2. Cheers Luke … Yeah we got pretty damn lucky that morning … I had never seen so much low cloud and mist around. The lost day to rain really paid off …

    Another Cracker mate!’

I bet it is a fav with the Base jumpers over there! At 3000 ft you could use a std rig and reserve and still chop the main if you had a problem!

    Cheers,

    Mark

  4. brilliant Neal- absolutely love the “peak” through to the next valley hey. great detail in the main face 🙂

  5. kirkhille says:

Another stunning shot mate ,Cant wait to see this place . That mountain face must be huge

  6. Thanks Mark – I had this printed nice and large and when framed by my awesome framer this looks sensational.
Not seen anyone do that, it may have to do with the landing area being full of large trees? Have seen plenty of hikers and a few of the hardcore climb the face, you see the lights of their tents half way up the face in the early morning before first light as they wake to continue their climb. Must be an absolute stunning view from their location, but shit sleeping in a tent pinned to the face overnight, thats hardcore …

Thanks Stephen – We (Luke and myself) got lucky, so many times I have stopped in the area and the light or clouds have not ben like this. The rain the day before provided the best chance we had while where there to capture this location.

Thanks Kirk – It is quite a sight up close. This spot in the valley is quite popular … As we left there must of been 100 folks there and one group of very loud women from Europe that pissed me off with their laughter abrupt voices in such a awe inspiring place … Some folks should stay home, or at the very least have a branding on their foreheads “Never to Visit A National Park” so the gate keepers can keep them out.

A refreshing composition of the Old Captain.

    Thank you

  8. Yet another Spool winner from Yosemite – you are really starting to capture the heart and soul of this place, you seem to know it well and it shows in your great work. It must be a hard place to shoot as we all know and love Ansel’s work from there but you are doing the place proud.

  9. Thanks Flem … I guess i am a little slow on the uptake and/or need years more experience. I found on my last visit I saw the park if a different way. I was still in awe of the place, but time seemed to slow down and I was able to actually see what was before me as opposed to my previous two visits. I can only imagine what it must be like for folks that get to visit the park regularly let alone Ansel Adams, how much did they see and take in blows my mind …

So looking forward to my next visit in 2010 …

  10. Very nice, that mist sure adds alot of drama!

  11. Cheers William … One of those rare moments when after a rain day the clouds and mist provided some nice opportunities … This image is the 1st in a series of 3 I have that are Black & Whites and shot in portrait mode for a specific 3 set series …
