A blast from the past. While sending a good portion of yesterday researching and refining a certain technique I thought I would try it on on a particular image that has been lying around for a while now, never really getting to the point where I was comfortable with the end result … Well I tried a few new things out and now I am quite happy with the final image to go to print.

Great job! It’s a beautiful shot.
Cheers photographyfree4all … It is a stunning small section of California …
Sweet shot there Neal…great colours and composition and the work on the highlights is effectively done without overdoing it….nice mate!
Cheers Mark … It took quite a bit of experimenting with my existing methods to get this one to come to life finally ..
um yeah, only barely printable isn’t it…. 😛
freakin nice Neal. love the feel to it. and all the elements of the tree and waterfall work so well together!
Cheers Stephen … I had to put a fair amount of work into trying to get this image to come to life. It was always looking too flat, but I played around with some methods I use and turned things upside down and inside out and came up with a nice new little method that may work on some images as it has done on this one …
Whatever you did, great result!
Cheers Tim … I was not sure myself until I went back over the layers a second time to remember what I did with each layer LOL … Added you blog to my blog roll as well, don’t know why its taken so long …
I like it mate, looks like some blend mode trickery going on there.
Cheers Fletch … No trickery here …. Just another way of doing what I was doing before but on separate images and not layers …
Cheers Neal!
Beautiful shot! have been following your blog for a while now and you have some amazing photos!
Cheers Steven for those kind words …
So very nice neal! I really like that glow look you have to some of your images.
Thanks Ryan … it is still a work in progress. I have fined tuned it a little further with the facebook image I loaded up yesterday ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Spool-Photography/196852073267 ), but still more tweaking to do with the method … Still not 100% on the method but its light years better than what I was using just a few months ago, I look back at that method and cringe now …
Very nice Neal ,
Love the editing on this
Cheers Kirk
